Dancing With The Stars

Dancing with the Stars is a show that pairs up professional ballroom dancers with a number of celebrities, in an intense, live competition. The contestants have to compete each week by performing various dances in front of the nation, and a studio audience.

The pairs are voted by the viewers at home and also judged by a number of expert judges (Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli). Each week, the team that gets the lowest combined score is eliminated. The challenge is to maintain composure, grace and focus while learning new movements. The show offers its audience impressive dancing, dazzling costumes, contemporary music, behind-the-scenes training and celebrity gossip. The winners of the contest receive a grand prize of a mirror ball trophy.

Dancing with the Stars is based on the British hit series, Strictly Come Dancing. It airs on ABC in the United States. The format of the show has become an international hit in several countries including Ukraine, Sweden, South Africa, Russia, Romania, Norway, The Netherlands, Japan, Israel, Greece, Finland, Denmark, Croatia, Austria, Albania etc.

The first edition of the Dancing with the Stars World Championship took place in 2007 and brought together countries like Ecuador, Paraguay, Panama, Slovakia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, Argentina and Romania. The winner of the competition was Mexico, which was also hosting the event.

American Idol

Created by Simon Fuller – founder of 19 Entertainment – in 2002, American Idol is a very popular Emmy Award-winning reality television competition. The show continues to be today a big favorite with TV audiences world-wide.

The program is currently at its ninth season, with Ryan Seacrest as the host and Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi, Randy Jackson and newcomer talk show host Ellen DeGeneres as the show’s judges. Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson have been judges right from the beginning of the series. As viewers and judges together decide who will be America’s next singing superstar, the show is all about interaction.

Contestants perform each week for TV viewers and the studio audience. Voting begins after each performance show and the result is revealed during the following broadcast. The winner of the show is guaranteed a record contract. However, other contestants have been signed too by different record labels. Winners as well as contestants who have been eliminated have a chance to become major stars.

Past winners Kris Allen, David Cook, Jordin Sparks, Taylor Hicks, Carrie Underwood, Fantasia Barrino, Ruben Studdard and Kelly Clarkson have made their mark on the music industry. The show is directed by Bruce Gowers and executive-produced by Bruce Gowers, and Cecile Frot-Coutaz.

Grey’s Anatomy on Channel 131

Grey’s Anatomy is a highly acclaimed hospital tv show from ABC studios. Created by Shonda Rhimes, the show premiered in 2005. The story follows the lives of several surgical residents at the Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital in Washington. During the time spent Seattle Grace, Meredith Grey and her fellows doctors Cristina, Alex, George and Izzie make new lovers, friends and enemies. They all have to struggle with the changes in their lives while staying sharp at work. The show is smart, and highly addictive for a medical drama. More than being about the medicine, Grey’s Anatomy is about the people behind it, their feelings and emotions.

The cast includes: Ellen Pompeo, Sandra Oh, Justin Chambers, Patrick Dempsey, Katherine Heigl, T.R Knight and many others. The characters are deep and enriching. They are about to learn that neither relationships nor medicine can be defined in black and white. Each season introduces new characters, changes and life challenges. The show’s title is a reference to the famous medical textbook.

Since its creation, the series has attained critical acclaim and commercial success. Winner of two Golden Globe Awards and two Emmy Awards, Grey’s Anatomy is currently one of the most watched tv series.
