In the street of Wisteria Lane in the fictional American town of Fairview in the Eagle State, we are introduced to the lives of a group of women, as seen through the ghost of their neighbour, Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong).

She paved the way for us to get to know the lives of her friends, family and neighbours, giving us a full view on their relationships, their problems, and their most kept secrets.

Her circle of girlfriends included in the lead casting ensemble of the show Desperate Housewives, headed by Teri Hatcher as Susan Mayer, Felicity Huffman as Lynette Scavo, Marcia Cross as Bree Van de Kamp, and Eva Longoria as Gabrielle Solis. Brenda Strong portrays her character as the narrator of the show and as a regular cast as well appearing in flashbacks or dreams.

From its successful premier from year 2004 to 2005, the television show has been a huge money making show until this day. Apart from its critical reviews and well-received story and plotlines, the show continues to bring excitement and even comparison to the equally successful and winning TV show Sex and the City.

The only thing that differ the show from the latter is that, it brings intelligent and smart overview on the domestic choices that the housewives choose, unlike the ones that Sex and the City has, where they mused or dish about men, sex and romance.

The show projects women, housewives in particular, that is smart and has a mind of their own. They’re older but good looking females, who still have the groove. Desperate housewives take us to the life changes of Middle Age women. Desperate Housewives’ creator Marc Cherry has made the right choice in coming up with this television comedy and drama series. There is no better ingredient than to pick on the domestic life of women and make something creative and memorable out of it. Kudos to the production and creators of Desperate Housewives.
