Launched in 2004, The Biggest Loser is a reality TV show produced by NBC Universal Television Studio. The American show was created by J.D Roth who is also the executive producer and the narrator of the series. The Biggest Loser has quickly managed to become a smash TV hit that helps people become more aware of the importance of good health through weight control. The Biggest Loser is a weight-loss reality drama in which top health experts are paired up with celebrity fitness trainers to help obese contestants lose weight.

The series is currently hosted by Alison Sweeney of Days of Our Lives fame. Contestants are grouped into teams at the start of each season, and each team has to follow their personal trainer's exercise plans and nutrition plans. A weigh-in is held at the beginning of each week. Every team's goal is to lose the highest percentage of weight. Each week, the weakest contestant is voted off by the members of his team. As the number of contestants becomes less, the teams dissolve and each contestant competes on his own, but under the supervision of the same trainer.

At the end of the show contestants will have transformed their bodies, health and overall life.  The "biggest loser",  becomes the biggest winner, walking away healthier and $ 250.000 richer.
